Caring For Your Wood Products Is Simple

First, please remember that your cutting board is not a chopping block! It was designed and made to withstand cutting but not for chopping items such as bones, heavy meats, etc.
You can expect your cutting board to serve you for many years if you follow these simple care instructions:
After each use, take a dry paper towel and wipe off any debris. Then scrub with a soapy sponge; simply use plain unscented dish soap. Make sure you give it a detailed scrub with the “scrubby or rough” side of the sponge.
After the soapy scrub, rinse it with hot water using the soft side of the sponge. You should soak up all the soapy water.
Rinse twice to make sure it is as clean as possible. Then take a paper towel and thoroughly wipe your cutting board dry.
Sanitize your cutting board with vinegar water. Use a formula of 4 parts water and 1 part white distilled vinegar. It is best to use a spray bottle if one is available.
Spray your board liberally all over each surface (top, underside, and each side). Soak it thoroughly. Ensure the board is completely covered. Let it sit for 5 minutes and then wipe it dry. This should be followed by air-drying for 15 minutes before storing.
Your cutting board should experience a periodic but regular treatment of good grade mineral oil. It is this oil that will preserve your cutting board for years to come. This product can be found at your local hardware store. Soak your cutting board well with about 3-4 tablespoons of the oil and let it sit for 15 minutes. After this time simply give your cutting board a detailed wipe-off (wipe off all excess oil). You will find your cutting board will soak up most of the oil. At this point you have properly cared for your cutting board and it is ready for service once again.
It is important to know that cutting boards must never be washed/sanitized using a dishwasher. Equally important, cutting boards must not be soaked in water. Either of these processes will cause your precious cutting board to dry out and split.
